Pei Shengji is a professor and doctoral supervisor of Kunming Institute of Botany(KIB), Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), fellow of Linnean Society, Honorary president of Chinese Association of Ethnobotnay; He has successively held the posts of Director of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, CAS; Deputy Director of KIB, CAS; Biodiversity Specialist and Division Chief of Mountain Natural Resource, International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD); President of International Society of Ethnobiology.

As Founder of Chinese ethnobotany, he received ‘Harshbager Medal’ Award from Society of Ethnobotanists, Distinguished Award from The East – West Center, USA and other 20 awards home and abroad. His major is plant resource, ethnobotany, medicine and biocultural diversity conservation; published 280 research papers and books at home and abroad.
