Professor Pei Shengji is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Fellow of Linnean Society, Honorary President of Chinese Association of Ethnobotany. Known for his commitment in biological conservations and researching on plant resources, Prof. Pei has successively held positions as the Director of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, CAS; Deputy Director of KIB, CAS; Biodiversity Specialist and Division Chief of Mountain Natural Resource, International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD); President of International Society of Ethnobiology.
As Founder of Chinese ethnobotany, he received the ‘Harshbarger Medal’ Award from the Society of Ethnobotanists, a distinguished award from The East – West Center, USA and other 20 awards home and abroad. With his extensive knowledge majoring in plant resources, ethnobotany, medicine and biocultural diversity conservation, he has published 280 research papers and books locally and abroad.
