Ms. Pan Yue
Vice Chairperson
Pan Wenshi Institute of Biodiversity Research (Beijing)

A graduate of Peking University with a degree in Applied Mathematics, Ms. Pan Yue was an early pioneer of e‑commerce in China. She has been deeply engaged in the online payment industry and spearheaded innovations in electronic banking services. Starting from 2009, together with her father Professor Pan Wenshi and her husband Zhao Yi, she founded a family philanthropic foundation and committed herself to the protection of endangered wild animals.
For many years, she has been working on the frontlines of nature reserves: patrolling for white-headed langurs in the karst forests of Chongzuo, Guangxi, and monitoring Chinese white dolphins in the Beibu Gulf. Meanwhile, she is also responsible for the daily operation and administration of the foundation. She applies big data, mathematical modeling and intelligent monitoring technologies to ecological research and conservation biology studies of endangered species, so as to improve habitat protection and advance community-based harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife. To advocate a land ethic that respects all lives and honors nature, she has actively launched and carried out life education projects to encourage young people to participate in ecological conservation. She is the co-author of multiple prize-winning popular science books. In 2022, she was appointed an academic member of the Sustainable Education Innovation Alliance of Beijing Normal University.
