Ms. Debra Tan

Head & Director
CWR

Debra Tan heads CWR, a nonprofit that aims to mainstream water and climate risks into financial decision-making and corporate strategies. She built CWR from an idea into a 'go-to' resource in the global climate water risk conversation. As a thought leader in the economic-water-energy-climate nexus, she has driven new ways to put 'waternomics' at the heart of investment/corporate strategies and policymaking. Debra’s research has been published by financial institutions as well as policy journals and her work on water risk impacts and valuation methodologies is referenced in technical guides for global climate-related disclosure standards. She was a contributing author to the IPCC’s 6th Assessment Report: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability. Derba has advised numerous corporates, MNCs & FIs and currently sits on the Board of Governors of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). Before water, Derba spent over a decade in finance; she spends her spare time exploring Himalayan glaciers.
