Joey Wat has served as Chief Executive Officer of Yum China Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: YUMC; HKEX: 9987), a Fortune 500 Company since March 2018 and has been a member of Yum China’s board of directors since July 2017. Joey served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Yum China from February 2017 to February 2018 and as Chief Executive Officer, KFC China from August 2015 to February 2017 (operating under Yum! Restaurants China, a division of Yum! Brands, Inc., at the time). She joined Yum! Restaurants China in September 2014 as President of KFC and was promoted to Chief Executive Officer for KFC China in August 2015.
Before joining Yum! Restaurants China, Joey served in both management and strategy positions at AS Watson of Hutchison Group, an international health, beauty and lifestyle retailer, in the U.K. from 2004. Her last position at Watson was as Managing Director of Watson U.K., which operates Superdrug and Savers retail chains, specializing in the sale of health and beauty products. Before joining Watson, Joey spent seven years in management consulting including with McKinsey & Company in Hong Kong.
Joey has been included in numerous lists of influential businesspeople, including Forbes' World's 100 Most Powerful Women (2023, 2022, and 2021); Fortune Magazine's Most Powerful Women (consecutively since 2017); and Business Insider's List of 100 People Transforming Business in Asia (2020). She was also named ‘Best CEO’ by Corporate Governance Asia at their 11th Asian Excellence Awards in 2021.
Joey holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Hong Kong.
