Hau Lee

Professor Hau Lee is a highly respected leader whose expertise lies in global supply chain management and value chain innovations. He is also interested in how innovating with the value chain can bring forth economic and welfare development in developing economies. He was inducted to the US National Academy of Engineering, and has been elected a Fellow of MSOM, POMS, and INFORMS.

In 2006-2007, Professor Lee was the President of the Production and Operations Management Society. He has published widely in top journals on supply chain management, with articles and papers receiving prestigious awards. His article, “The Triple-A Supply Chain,” was the Second Place Winner of the McKinsey Award for the Best Paper in 2004 in the Harvard Business Review. In 2004, his co-authored paper in 1997, “Information Distortion in a Supply Chain: The Bullwhip Effect,” was voted as one of the ten most influential papers in the history of Management Science.

Besides his rich experience in the research field, Professor Lee co-founded DemandTec, a price-optimization company that went public in NASDAQ in 2007. He was formerly an independent Non-Executive Director at Esquel. He was Chairman of the Board of SCM World, which was acquired by Gartner in 2006. Currently, he serves as the Council Chair of Integral Institute, a Board Member to TD Synnex, Silvaco and the Lion Rock Group.

Professor Lee holds degrees from the University of Hong Kong, the London School of Economics, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was awarded Honorary Doctorates by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, the University of Macau, and the London Business School.
